I took this class over a year ago - pieced with the instructor assistance of Cyndi McChesney. Recently, we added a Baby Lock Regalia (Long Arm) to our Canon shop and PJ Stephenson was kind enough to quilt it for me. One more UFO completed. The name of the quilt is "Stain Glass Candy Store". Its currently hanging in the Pueblo store.
If you look close you'll see the quilted art is comprised of a variety of candy pieces....

I never thought of myself as a "cat" person. My childhood photos included: Stormy, the Cocker Spaniel; Puppy, the Fox Terrier, Spencer, the Chow/Border Collie mix and Jean T'ae, full blood ChowChow. For cats, I remember Sierra as my first personal cat. True I knew my grandmother had a fat yellow tabby named Sam or something like that - but Sierra was my first feline pet. She was a chocolate tipped Himalayan and like all cats had a distinct personality. She in turn had a litter because I let her out a night on occasion - oh well. Even though I knew I was going to eventually do my best to give hem away to unsuspecting friends, I named them. Its important to name a kitten, for no other reason, so you can yell at them when they scratch up your belongings. for the progression of the story, it is suffice to say I named the kittens; Daquiri, Whiskey, Mai'Tai, Tequilia, Margarita, and Jack. Later after retirement, we live out side the city limits on 35 acres and keeping animals inside was was tough but a necessity. To our surprise, a feral cat was found in my barn - a good thing to keep the rodents at bay. After a while, I named the cat, "Mr. Giggles". Before we moved into town, we did our duty by capturing him and taking him to the vet to prevent more giggles....
Current: In our location, cats and small animals fall prey to the bigger predators around our house to include owls, coyotes, foxes, hawks and even mountain lions. We decided to try again to domesticate two kittens - named Moda and Batik. Our oldest son took Batik with him to New Mexico. Moda unfortunately went missing once day and it was only after a neighbor brought us her collar we knew of her demise. The elder son got order to the Netherlands and couldn't take Batik with him - he had by this time renamed the cat to..."Cat". Before he left, he brought Cat back to us even after our warning of possible death. This was almost two years ago and Cat remains a household fixture. I offer this short story because Cat must have the attention most cats shy away from. Her she is assisting me in putting on binding the other night. The moral of the story? If you want to keep a cat, don't give her a name... R

One of our regulars from the Pueblo store recently brought in a baseball (Colorado Rockies) she had disassembled (cut the woven thread)... use the Baby Lock Destiny to embroidery what you see on the leather, then using a waxed thread, re-assembled the ball. Though I put on my best sad/pitiful face, she did not offer to give it to me. Pretty cool though, huh.—R

The theme of the project was "whimsical". After I mentioned I wanted to do something lite with bugs and bees, PJ and Marissa from the shop insisted on matching the color schemes. Since I was 5 minutes away from beginning the class, I was fine with the choices. It turned out better than I had hoped. I added an embroidered frog for the middle for my grand daughter - for who this piece is being made. Still to come, minor trimming, quilting, then the bias binding... - R
