Hmmm, I don't know. I guess we COULD have tried to fit in a few more things into 3 weeks.
Our youngest son Hunter loves music, which is also his major in college. And he loves Drum Corps International competition. The 2017 finals were held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis several weeks ago and Hunter flew up to meet us there.
The Drum Corps International competition was an amazing three days filled with some of the most talented and dedicated young men and women. It was so inspiring to see these kids, who have spent 10-14 hours every day this summer practicing and working and have such dedication to a passion that is honorable and beautiful to watch.
So we "relaxed" at a downtown Indianapolis hotel, walked everyday to Lucas Oil Stadium, and got to spend some time with some friends who met us there, and our son, Hunter. Nice trip.
Oh, and did I mention we rode our Harleys across country to get there. We'd planned this trip last summer. It was going to be our big "bike trip" of the year. A 3-day ride to Indianapolis, and 3 day ride back home.
So in January of this year, all was planned out. Well, in April we decided to open a store in Pueblo. With a planned opening date of June 15th, we thought the store would be up and running smoothly before our big bike trip in August.
Then naturally, the store opening dates were all pushed back. Bottom line, the Pueblo store was open for just a week when we told our new staff, "we'll be back"... and left for Indianapolis.
Do I need to say how much I love our team at Pueblo! They all stepped up to the plate and the store ran perfectly while we were away. The Cañon City store was also in very capable hands. Words cannot express how much that meant, having great employees willing to allow us to take our much needed vacation.
So 2,452 miles on 2 motorcycles, a vibrant Drum Corps competition, a visit with our son, and the new First Stitches Pueblo. All within 3 weeks.
It's been a good summer.
