I have a "Crown Jewel" buddy!!

A big congrats to Karen on her purchase of a brand new Baby Lock Crown Jewel III with ProStitcher. It took Randy several days to get her all put together and this Crown is a beauty!

This morning, Karen and I finished up the set-up (leader cloths, etc.) and got her new baby stitching out beautifully. 

One of the nicest perks, is Karen only lives a couple blocks away and I am already learning tips from this well-experienced quilter. I think I am just as excited as she is!!

I've can honestly say I gave it a try at one point...

But hand sewing is just not for me. I tend to stick the needle in my thumb, rather than through the actual fabric. And I'm sorry to say, I'm against self-inflicted pain.

Hand sewing is not for everyone.  It takes a lot of patience and dedication.  However, I can only imagine the sense of joy one receives when a hand-sewn quilt is completed.

Gayle's mother started this hand-pieced clam shell quilt many years ago.  Gayle was determined to finish it in honor of her mother.  And this week she brought it in, all quilted and bound.  The hand stitching is absolutely beautiful!  What a keepsake for many years to come. 

Congratulations, Gayle for a wonderful job.  I'm sure your mother would have been very proud of you!
