Using Westalee Templates - aka "Ruler Work"

What a great time we had the weekend of January 21st and 22nd.  We had over 24 ladies learn the wonderful skill of free motion quilting with templates.  This is also known as Ruler Work. 

Irene Huffman, our Westalee Educator, and her friend and helper, Dawn were awesome.  Irene showed us how using even a simple template can create some terrific quilting designs using just a basic domestic sewing machine.

We are already tentatively scheduled for another 2-day event with Irene in June.  Keep your eye on our class/event calendar for the exact dates. 

 

Hoopsisters Block of the Month - "Sewn Seeds"

One of the greatest pleasures of my life is having the privilege of seeing the finished projects of customers who have spent countless hours creating a quilt.  Donna L. finished her Hoopsisters Sewn Seeds Block of the Month Quilt recently and brought it in for all of us to be amazed. Donna's labor of love is simply spectacular.  If your computer will let you, enlarge this picture and look at the intricate detail. We were all awestruck.  Donna, you did a wonderful job and congratulations of its completion!

A Row of the Month

Sure, we've all done Block of the Month quilts.  But why not try a "Row of the Month"?

Spending the day with Faith, thanks to PJ!

One of my favorite quilting friends is also a very good pattern designer.  Faith of DoodleTime Designs created the pattern "5-Yard Everyday Quilt".  It's simple, it's fun and it uses 5 different fabrics, at 1 yard each.  It's a perfect quilt for fussy-cuts, and for a beginner wanting to expand their quilting abilities. 

So, while PJ got to spend a day or so with Faith (who now lives in a far away state called Montana), piecing together one of her quilts, I get to spend the day with Faith, quilting it. (I just love team work!) 

And I love knowing that no matter what, quilters stay connected, even if they move away.
