The naming of the "middle room"

We held a mini-contest to find a name for the middle room of our main building.  After many excellent responses, the eldest son chose Judy B's name of "The Sewcial Studies Room".

I like it.

Always busy... always changing... never dull!

We've spent last weekend re-vamping First Stitches.  Due to space constraints and an amazing 628 bolts of fabric now in our inventory (with more getting added weekly), something had to give. 

So we decided to utilize one of the buildings on our "complex". It was already finished on the inside, but just needed a little tender loving care.

We quickly named it "The Dollhouse".  The name just fit.

Mr. Randy put up design walls all the way around the inside, so every student would have their own personal space to place their blocks and pieces. It can accomodate up to 8 students - each having their own sewing table - with a ironing and cutting table.

And the lighting is awesome!

The Dollhouse provides a more private teaching environment, without the interruptions of normal store traffic.

We've also kept 3-4 tables in the middle room of the main brick building (there's a naming contest going on, see our facebook post). Here we'll hold smaller classes, three or four, and it'll be a place where friends can come in and sew together and be set apart from the rest of the store.

So if you haven't been in the store for while, come in and see our changes.

A little calm.

After a few weeks of challenging times, it's nice to be at home, well our second home - the quilt shop. I have to admit, while there's lots of work to be done, I love the 5-10 minutes I spend on the front porch every now and then.  Especially now with all the pretty flowers.

Bargello Marmalade Quilts

Final week of the Bargello Marmalade quilt class.  I think the ladies did a great job and I love the colors.

Just a little more sewing and they'll be ready for the longarm.
