We held our first class in the classroom at our new location last night. Though it was a little warm (no AC yet), all in all the test flight went very well. Especially when you see some of the results of the layout designs!
Very Kool Kaleidoscopes!
Faith had a great class on Saturday, teaching several ladies the joy of 'paper piecing'. If you've never learned how to paper-piece, you're missing out a really fun way of creating beautiful quilt blocks, mug mats, wall hangings, and lots more.

I have issues spelling it without having to look twice at it. But the Tuesday night class members are forming very "Kool-looking" designs.
Randy doesn't cut anybody any slack when it comes to his class. Another fun day with spark-filled laughter.
With only minor touch-ups needed, this barn quilt needs a name. Any suggestions?
We're hoping to get her hung this week......

While my modern barn quilt gets the last color put down this morning, I thought I'd show you how Randy's turned out. (note the glitter effect) I think he did pretty good. What do you think?
I have found that being productive, even with the most insignificant project or task, is the best therapy for a heavy heart.

Miss Randi and I had a "sew-in" day yesterday at the store. We're working on an upcoming monthly Pillow Pop Club and made a few samples. Here's mine.

In April of last year, Bea, Bonny, Cheryl, and I decided to challenge ourselves with a huge applique project. Friday was our very first gathering and I'm pleased to say, we have made a little progress. I never realized there could be so much paperwork...More to come.
I finally got some good quality computer time this weekend and played around with Artistic Suite 6.0.
So far, I'm really liking this program! It does a very nice job at converting imported artwork to digitized drawing and I can bling it!
Well, I decided I wanted to add some bling to my leather vest.
A while back I drew out the Air Force logo and digitized it for a quilt I made my son-in-law. I took that bitmapped image, and brought it into Artistic Suite. Instead of filling it with an embroidery pattern, however, I simply filled it with crystals. I could determine what size crystal I wanted, then even manipulate where the crystals were put. Long story short, it was not a painful process and I can see the potential for getting really creative.
After I was happy with the crystal placements on the screen, I exported the design to my Cameo Cutter, cut out the template, placed the crystals, and here is the result:
I also added a couple of blings on the back of my vest to highlight my favorite quilt block, the Ohio Star.
Oh the potential that is lurking...
My modern barn quilt is coming along. It's kind of nice not to have to worry about accurate 1/4" seams for a change.
This is a fun way to make lots of fascinating items, such as bowls, coasters, rugs, and more. Great for using up scraps and clearing out your stash closet.

Learn the Traditional method of Paper Piecing by making a Mug Mat with fussy-cut center. No prior paper piecing experience necessary to take this class – just basic sewing skills. Foundation units will be provided.

Doodle Time Designs
I've made a few barn quilts in my day, but this is the first non-traditional one. I'm trying out a "modern" quilt pattern. I'll keep you posted.
Fighting off the urge to play with my latest toy (see yesterday's post), I determined to finish piecing the king-sized quilt top I'd started over 2 months ago for our bed. I think I'm at least to the point where I determine what kind of border to put on it, then ponder how to quilt it. I'm very open to suggestions!
