Day 2 - Kid's Camp - Spring Break

All was quiet in the morning...

But by the afternoon, the machines were humming away and all the girls finished their skirts and vest.  They were very proud of their new projects.

And of course, moms and grandmas were very proud, too!

March Apron Club - Full to the brim!

Chocolate chip cookies - were the treat for this month's club.  Oh, and we did manage to make just a few aprons!

Another Busy Week at First Stitches

I just can't believe March is half over.  We've had so many fun classes already this month, and I can't wait for the excitement this week:

• Monday, March 18th, we're finishing the Veranda Purse Class.
• Wednesday, March 20th, we have the "Sew a Top" class in the afternoon and the legendary Apron Club in the evening. There are only a few seats open.  Call soon!
• Friday, March 22nd is the 18" Zippy Pillow - where you'll never be intimidated by a zipper again!

Next week is Kids' Camp during Spring Break, along with a Folded Centrepiece class and The Beginner Cloth Purse Class.

We had originally schedule the official Grand Opening on March 23rd, but we're going to have 7 brand new Janome^® model sewing machines in the first week of April and we really want to be able to show those off. 

April 20th is the Official, Official Grand Opening of First Stitches. So watch for more details.  Lots of demos, lots of prizes, lots of fun.

 

 

Kim Gets to Take a Class

After watching for months, I actually got to sit down and make the "Go Anywhere" Tote on Saturday. It's a great cloth purse. And I only had to "rip" one seam. Not bad, huh?

EQ 7 Seminar - Great Minds make Beautifully Creative Quilts!

Friday and Saturday's EQ 7 Seminar was awesome.  Barb Gardner from Louisville, Colorado did a terrific job at showing all of us how to design beautiful quilt patterns on our computers.  There's no limit to our creativity and Electric Quilt 7 is the tool for making our ideas a reality.

Bring me your tired, your poor...SCRAPS!

In celebration of Worldwide Quilting Day

March 16th  •  Noon - ???

Everyone has them — in the bottom of your sewing closet... tucked away behind your cabinets... bagged up in hopes of miraculous transformations... yes, we all have them:

SCRAPS!

Bring them to First Stitches at noon on March 16th and we'll "SWAP" with old and new friends, giving your scraps a new home and in return, getting some fresh, new scraps for yourself.

We do have some rules!

1. Scraps must be pre-washed, clean, good quality and in usuable condition, which means no holes, stains, rips, etc.
2. Scraps must measure at least 4"x4".
3. Please only bring 100% cotton scraps for this first swap.  We may venture out in the future (yes, we will probably do this again!)

While we were out of town this weekend, Cyndi taught the "Quilt-as-you-go" Placemat Class here at First Stitches.  From what I can tell from the pictures and from what I've been told, it was a great class.  Thanks to Bonny and Cyndi!!!
